ACTIVITY: Please look at the following cultures, slides, and preserved specimens.  Access sheets on the Rhodophyta to guide you in your observations.  
  1. Glaucocystis: living, wm slide
  2. Cyanophora: living
  3. Porphyridium: living, wm slide.
  4. Porphyra: preserved, wm slide.
  5. Gigartina: living
  6. Bangia: living, wm slide.
  7. Batrachospermum: wm slide, herbarium sheet.
  8. Nemalion: wm slide, herbarium sheet.
  9. Polysiphonia: living, wm slide, herbarium sheet.
  10. Herbarium sheets of other assorted rhodophytes.
  11. Corallina: living.
  12. Coralline reds attached to a bottle.
THE COMMON HOUR

UNKNOWN 6:  Key out the unknown alga.  Complete the algal data sheet before you attempt the key.  Also, be sure to include a drawing that indicates at least two key characters of the genus.
