AMOEBOID KINGDOMS AND FUNGI I: VITALISM AND MECHANISM IN BIOLOGY |
MONDAY 10 MARCH
THE SEPARATE HOUR
DIALOGUE 16: AMOEBAE AND RHIZARIA. This dialogue will include the following kingdoms and all phyla of the CERCOZOAE and AMOEBOZOAE. Please come prepared with the taxonomy of the two kingdoms and descriptions of the groups. Also, read the Domain Eukarya and the Evolution of the Eukaryotic Supertree. Be prepared to discuss the roles that the Amoebozoae and Rhizaria played in the construction of the supertree.
Concepts and Terms for Dialogue 16: Please access the appropriate concepts and terms for the taxa covered today through the front pages of the kingdoms CERCOZOAE and AMOEBOZOAE. Any of these terms could be used in the Game next Monday.
THE COMMON HOUR
GAME 7. Please come prepared with information from last week. The categories will be TAXONOMY, ANATOMY, PHYLOGENY. As before, much of this information comes from the data sheets, Margulis & Schwartz (1998), Holt & Nelson (2001), The Origin (chapter 7), cultures, slides, and preserved specimens from the last week of class.
WEDNESDAY 12 MARCH
THE SEPARATE HOUR
ACTIVITY 16: AMOEBAE AND RHIZARIA. Please look at the following cultures, slides, and preserved specimens. Access sheets on the CERCOZOAE and AMOEBOZOAE. Items in red are on demonstration. All others are in your slide boxes.

In order for this to be a rewarding exchange, you must come prepared with appropriate taxonomies and data sheets for the FUNGI. Come to class with a description of the Fungi from the Tree of Life Project. Be prepared to discuss it.
