Anorexia Athletica
is not a recognized eating disorder by physicians and psychologists.
This disorder is characterized by compulsive exercising, and it may develop
into other eating disorders. Individuals with this condition exercise
beyond what is required for good health, and they determine self worth
based on their performance. They may also exercise excessively to
gain respect or the feeling of control and power. They are obsessed
with weight and diet and steal time from work, school, and relationships
to work out. This disorder is often found in competitive athletes.
These people are rarely satisfied with their athletic achievements.
